Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that PML-N had opposed the amendment to the Article 62 (1) (f) of the Constitution when 18th Amendment was being passed but now they are proposing it. He said this talking to the media just after performing flag hoisting ceremony and laying floral wreath on the Mazar-e-Quaid, here on Monday. He was accompanied by Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair and Sindh cabinet members.
Shah said that when the Constitution of 1973 was being restored in its original shape through the 18th amendment, PML-N had opposed amendment in clauses (1) (f) of the article 62, strongly; therefore, it was left unchanged. "Now they [PML-N leadership] have expressed their inclination and intention to repeal article 62 (1) (f). Let us see what political leadership of PPP decides. Had it been amended or repealed in those days things would have been different," he said.
On Pakistan Independence Day, the chief minister said that the independence was achieved with great sacrifices of our elders and now it becomes our responsibility to protect the sovereignty of the country. He said that the terrorists were trying to undermine the country but our people are united against them and they [terrorists] would never succeed in their nefarious designs. He strongly condemned the Quetta blast and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families. "It was Sindh Assembly that passed the resolution for a separate homeland for Muslims of India," he cited urging that today, we should remember all those who lost their lives in the struggle for separate homeland and fighting against terrorists. Earlier, the chief minister Murad Shah, Sindh Governor Zubair and cabinet members performed flag-hoisting ceremony and laid floral wreath on the grave of founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. They also recited fateha for him and paid rich tribute to him for his able leadership.
