The custom officials foiled two bids of smuggling of foreign and fake currency from Pakistan to Afghanistan by recovering one million Saudi Riyals and 0.750 million fake Afghani currency notes from two smugglers at Torkham border. Sharing details, superintendent Naeem Khan told here on Monday that the on duty custom officials at Torkham custom centre stopped a Kabul bound trailer bearing registration no.KBL-76777 for routine checking. During search one million Saudi Riyals were recovered from a passenger, un-boarded in the truck.
The currency had been tied to his body under his clothes, the official added. The truck driver and the allegedly smuggler identified as Feroz Shah son of Hikmat Khan of Nengarhar province of Afghanistan was arrested.
