Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan lambasted US President Donald Trump for his harsh words against Pakistan, saying the time has come for Pakistan to stop fighting 'others wars for the lure of dollars.' In a tweet, he said that people of Pakistan should learn from the ongoing war against terrorism. "This should teach Pakistan once and for all a valuable lesson: never to fight others' wars for the lure of dollars," he added.
He said that the reason Donald Trump's blaming Pakistan is mainly to hide the US deeply flawed and failed Afghan policy stretching over a decade, adding Pakistan fought two wars in Afghanistan at the US behest and had to pay heavy human and economic costs both times.
"We sacrificed 70,000 Pakistanis lives in the US war on terrorism. Our economy suffered over $ 100 billion loss. In addition, there were intangible costs on our society. It is time for Pakistan to say: never again," he maintained. US President Donald Trump on Monday demanded Pakistan to "stop offering safe havens to agents of chaos," as he presented his policy for the 16-year-long war in Afghanistan in his first formal address as commander-in-chief.
While inviting India - the arch rival of Pakistan - to provide more economic and development assistance to Afghanistan, Trump discarded his previous criticism of America's longest war as "a waste of time and money". "We must reject being made scapegoats for the policy failures of the US and India", said Imran.
"Just as India blames Pakistan for the indigenous Kashmiri uprisings when these are a result of its own failed policy of military repression in India-held Kashmir, the US again blames Pakistan for its deeply flawed and failed Afghan policy stretching over a decade."
In another tweet, Khan strongly reacted to the government's move to bring a constitutional amendment to get rid of Articles 62, and 63, saying his party will not allow it. Soon after Law and Justice Minister Zahid Hamid hinted at bringing an amendment, Khan took to Twitter and said that any such step to bring an amendment is nothing but to protect the corruption of Sharif family.
"Disgraceful, how PML-N now wants to bring a constitutional amendment to Articles 62 and 63 - simply to legitimize Sharif family's corruption...basically the PML-N government wants to give a legal cover to Sharif family's unbridled corruption. The people will resist the amendments and come out on the streets," Khan said in a tweet.
