A high-powered delegation comprising of Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, UK, Wajid Khan Member European Parliament, Aasim Rashid Councillor Rochdale, UK and Raja Najabat Hussain, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Self-Determination Movement called upon Habib ur Rehman Gillani, Managing Director OPF. The MD OPF briefed them about the OPF services and initiatives in social welfare, education, housing schemes and online complaint system for use of Overseas Pakistanis.
Andrew Gwynne who is also shadow secretary of state for community affairs said that British Pakistanis are fully involved in diverse areas of development in UK. They are excellent politicians, and are working in and excelling in various fields such as medicine, law and accountancy. Raja Najabat Hussain highlighted that UK-Kashmiris of Pakistani origin are highlighting the Kashmir issue worldwide. If given proper support Pakistanis/Kashmiris can play a significant role in economic development of AJK and Pakistan. Aasim Rashid added that British Pakistanis are ready to invest in Pakistan, said a press release.
Further, he said that the younger generation of British Pakistanis should be aware and get involve in affairs of Pakistan. In this regard he floated the idea of bringing youth delegation to Pakistan every year. MD, OPF appreciated the sentiments and idea.
He assured full support in shape of local hospitality and logistical support from OPF. Sajid Qazi, Director General OPF said that OPF is trying to reach out to all overseas Pakistanis to learn from their rich experience in various walks of life. OPF is ready to offer a platform whereby overseas Pakistanis could share their experiences and support various mutually beneficial activities in Pakistan.-PR
