Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Cricket Coordinator in Mardan and former national cricketer Asia Noor Tuesday said that a total of 22 women players were short-listed for the final phase of trials to select women Under-21 cricket team for Regional Cricket Association Abbottabad. Talking to media, Asia Noor said the trials, she conducted in Government Post Graduate College Mardan wherein more than 100 players from all affiliated districts with Regional Cricket Association Abbottabad participated and among them 22 players were short-listed for final phase of trials.
She disclosed that the trials were held in cordial atmosphere and each of the girls turned up for the trials have given proper time to show her hidden talent. There were more players from Mardan along with Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Batagram, Tor Gar, Buner, Dir Upper, Chitral, and Kohistan. She also thanked Principal Government Post Graduate College Mardan Mrs Professor Mumtaz and Director Sports Miss Shakeela for extending all out support in holding the trials in befitting manners. The ground and pitches have already been prepared excellently.
Aasia Noor, a former cricketer and Assistant Director Sport Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mardan, also thanked President Regional Cricket Association Abbottabad Zahid Saeed, and Secretary General RCA Abbottabad Maqsood Ahmad for supporting her in organizing the trials in Mardan. With this the girls of Mardan got a golden opportunity to come and participate in the day-long trials. The final phase of trials will be organized in Abbottabad Cricket Stadium on August 24. The names of the final selection team will be sent to Pakistan Cricket Board on August 25, 2017, Asia Noor added.
