Illegal assets case: PPP celebrates acquittal of Zardari from Accountability Court
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Lahore on Saturday celebrated acquittal of PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari from the Accountability Court in illegal assets case. The whole party leadership and workers assembled at the Krishan Nagar office in NA-120. They distributed sweets and raised slogans in favour of Zardari.
Speaking on the occasion, the PPP city leadership said acquittal of Zardari has proved that the PML-N had filed fake cases to victimize him politically. They said Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had been advocating for innocence of Zardari throughout her life. Also, Zardari spent almost eight years behind the bar to face politically-motivated cases. The PPP is a real representative of the people of Pakistan and its leadership has been victimized for their cause to support people, it said.
PPP City President Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan said the acquittal of Zardari at such a crucial moment would be helpful in accelerating momentum to the PPP's campaign in NA-120 by-polls. He urged the party workers to speed up their door-to-door campaign to bring maximum number of voters to the polling booths on September 17.
