The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Saturday said it respects the country's institutions but differs with the judgement in Panama case which is a public property. While talking to media persons at Raiwind after a consultative meeting chaired by Nawaz Sharif on Saturday, Federal Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique told media that they do not refer to state institutions but talk about certain characters when they talk about conspiracy. "We only criticised those parts of the Panama case judgment which we think are "weak" from legal point of view. We respect judges and institutions."
He reiterated that the party is always cautious in its criticism and has no intention of disrespecting the judiciary or any judge. Responding to accusations of criticising state institutions, Rafique said the PML-N is not pointing fingers at institutions when it talks about conspiracy. "We do say that the role of certain characters was not right," he added. "We want justice and fair trial which is our constitutional right."
Criticising Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, he said he has acted as a pawn and no importance should be given to what he says. To another question, Saad said there are some difficulties ahead and the situation demands that the country's institutions and political parties must unite to face these challenges.
Regarding criticism of Asif Zardari on Nawaz, the PML-N leader said: "We would get benefit whatever Zardari and his son would utter against us." Regarding media reports about ban on speeches of 16 PML-N leaders, Saad said the additional attorney general has informed him that the LHC had not passed any such order. He just urged media to act in a responsible way. The meeting also discussed various legal and political issues and future course of action of the PML-N.
