Prime Minister's Advisor, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Engineer, Amir Muqam has inaugurated Rs 1.40 billion gas project for the constituency of NA-13, Swabi-II.
The project was inaugurated at Kunda Mor in district Swabi; Muqam later addressed a gathering attended by PML-N central leader Liaqat Ahmad Khan, various other central and provincial leaders, MPA Shiraz Khan and district president Iftikhar Ahmad Khan. The officials of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) also graced the gathering.
The district leaders, especially those who plan to contest the upcoming general election 2018, were upbeat about the initiation of the project which they claimed would be completed before election and is expected to boost their party position in NA-13 in helping them to win votes and give tough time to their arch rival PTI leaders.
He said that SNGPL works under the Federal Government and the PTI leaders' claim of the provision of gas to the area was just a political gimmick to win people by making them believe that PTI is providing them facilities.
Muqam said that they had never made hollow pledges like others and the gas inauguration proves that they had delivered and striving to work according to the expectations of the people.
"All the remaining areas of the district would get the gas supply before the general election," he said and added, "We are completely committed to play an effective role for the uplift of the district." He claimed, "We will stand with the people in every thick and thin." He said that the league leaders were determined to work for the welfare of people with determination and in the same breath remarked that PTI chairman Imran Khan must acknowledge that his party is unable to run KP affairs.
The PTI leadership had a golden opportunity to honour pubic mandate but the people had judged their performance and have started saying that the PTI leaders had made promises but utterly failed to keep them. Everybody knows that opportunity to rule KP was provided to PTI by PML-N who believed in strong democratic order in the country otherwise it was not be difficult for the League leadership to topple the provincial government. "The people had rejected the sit-in politics," he said.
He claimed that Khan would not be able to become prime minister through backdoor channels because the masses believe in practicality and work on the ground, while PTI is void of such qualities which could easily be judged from its performance in KP. He alleged that the PTI government had failed to curb the spread of dengue virus in the province and cases of dengue positive patients had started swarming in from various regions, including Swabi. The unbridled spread of the virus had exposed and negated the health reforms the government had claimed in the KP. The claims of result-oriented changes in KP had already backfired due to the incompetence of the PTI leaders, he said.
"The PTI-led government has failed to devise an effective strategy to curb dengue which is why the number of the patients had reached an alarming level and continue to climb," he said. He said that the health department did not take preemptive measures for the protection of the people from the deadly virus.
"It was the duty of the government to carry out spray to eliminate breeding grounds of the mosquito carrying the deadly dengue virus," he said. He alleged that the KP government awakened from deep slumber after the tests confirmed the dengue positive patients and as a matter of fact Punjab government provided help and assistance to the PTI-led government.
