City police on Thursday registered a case against four personnel of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) for a firing incident in which one person died and another sustained serious bullet injuries. According to first information report, the incident took place at Rawal Town on August 30 when police signaled a car, bearing registration number AB-6867, carrying two persons namely Anayatullah Shah and Ejaz Shah, to stop. When car was about to stop, police opened fire and as a result Anyat died on the spot and the other received bullet injuries, it further said.
The FIR was registered by Shahzad Town police station on the complaint of Waleed Shah, son of the deceased. Waleed said that his father Anayat Shah along with Ejaz Shah was going to the residence of the latter at Margalla Town. It further said when ATS squad following his father's car signaled them to stop, they stopped the car. When they - the deceased and Ejaz Shah - stopped car near Moria Mor, a police vehicle (GV-249) reached there and the police personnel opened indiscriminate firing. As a result of firing, his father Anayat died on the spot while Ejaz Shah sustained injuries.
The official said that police have arrested the four ATS personnel and started investigations. The investigations of the case have been handed over to Homicide Unit of city police. Meanwhile, some unidentified robbers attempted to break into a private bank at sector G-7 Markaz in the wee hours of Thursday. Robbers broke a windowpane of the bank but did not enter the bank, a police official said while quoting a complaint filed by the bank official.
