The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have started door-to-door campaign in NA-120 by-election to muster support of the voters. PTI candidate Dr Yasmeen Rashid is herself going door-to-door as a part of election campaign while Maryam Nawaz, who is spearheading election campaign of her mother Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, is yet to start such a drive.
The PML-N has appointed coordinators for the constituency to supervise the election campaign already launched by the local bodies' representatives of the party. PTI MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal has already started campaign in Mozang area to muster public support for his party's candidate. None of the main political parties has so far arranged any big public meeting. However, the PML-N has held women and workers' conventions besides holding rallies.
The candidates and supporters of different parties including Jamaat-e-Islami, Milli Muslim League and Pakistan People's Party are also knocking at doors of voters of NA-120 to have their support.
While the printing of ballot papers is going to start from September 10 for Lahore's NA-120 by-poll, which is scheduled for September 17, the returning officer has released polling scheme for the by-poll, for which over 220 polling stations will be established for 321,786 voters in the constituency. There would be 120 polling stations for male voters and 98 for female voters apart from 16 polling stations both for male & female voters.
According to the sources, Kulsoom Nawaz's name on the ballot paper is at 31st position while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Yasmin Rashid is at 15th number. Awami National Party's Ameer Bahadur Khan's name on ballot paper is at the third position while Pakistan Peoples Party's Faisal Mir's name is on the 29th position.
