Preity Zinta faces backlash on her #MeToo statement
Many prominent names from Bollywood came up and opened up about their stories of sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement that had reached its peak last month. Preity Zinta has recently expressed her views on the ongoing movement, which has sparked a controversy.
“I think it's important that this whole Me Too Movement has started, but it is also important that women use it for the right thing because there are men and women who would use the position of their power for their advantage,” Preity Zinta said in an interview to Bollywood Hungama.
The actress was further asked if she has ever experienced any kind of bad behaviour in the industry, to which she replied, "No, I haven’t, I wish I had,” she laughed. “People treat you the way you want to be treated,” she added.
Later, Preity took to Twitter to lash out at the journalist for editing the interview and making her statement insensitive.
Really sad 2see how the interview Is edited to trivialis& be insensitive. Not everything is traction & as someone being interviewed I expected decency & maturity froma journalist @iFaridoon. I did 25 interviews that day & only yours turned out edited like this #dissappointed

The Internet doesn't seem convinced. Responses to her tweet have asked Preity to prove the video was edited and to disclose what she actually said.
Disturbing opinions coming from Preity Zinta on #MeToo movement. Highly insensitive the way she's going about mocking victims. "You are treated the way you want to be"- Sure @realpreityzinta, you wanted to be molested by Ness Wadia, right? That's why you filed an FIR against him? pic.twitter.com/AHvpEbF0jv

Preity Zinta went from being the only Bollywood celeb to have the guts to testify in the Bharat Shah Case to someone who trivialises the #MeToo movement and 'wishes' she had one. What a waste of life.

Didn’t expect such a disgusting comment from her. Making a joke out of such a revolutionary movement for women as woman herself is despicable. Please educate yourself before you utter such rubbish to stay relevant in the news. #preityzinta #metoo https://t.co/xEbLYAVEls

The ballsy Preity Zinta who once took underworld head on and accused Ness Wadia of harassment is now mocking #metoo. This is what drugs do to people kids!

So Miss #PreityZinta said that people who complain about the #MeToo are the ones who project that image about themselves and ask for it.
So according to your privileged ass, I was asking for it at 8 years old when I got molested, huh?
