Former MNA and Pakistan People Party (PPP) leader, Nawabzada Khawaja Mohammad Khan Hoti has called upon the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Countries, and Muslim world to take immediate notice of 'genocide' of the Burmese Muslims in Myanmar. Speaking a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, he strongly denounced the massacre of Burmese Muslims in Myanmar.
He said that the Muslim world should take stern stance on the issue, like Turkish government, and they must be stepped up efforts to mitigate the sufferings of hundreds of people, which fled their homes in Myanmar's Rakhine state to refuge by crossing border.
He urged the Muslim countries and Pakistan to immediate expel Myanmar diplomat in protest of killings of a large number of Muslims. He praised the Turkish president, Erdagon for extending assistance for displaced Burmese Muslims in their time testing situation.
PPP leader criticized the Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the de facto leader of Myanmar and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate who once embodied her country's fight for democracy and human rights for keeping silence over the genocide of the Muslims in her country. He asked her to withdraw all global awards and prizes. He also voiced concern over silence of UN, OIC and International rights-based organizations on the Myanmar issue.
He rebuffed the criticism on former president and PPP co-Chairman, Asif Ali Zardari over honouring of award to Aung San Suu Kyi. He clarified the award was given to her in recognition of efforts for supporting democracy and human rights in 2013.
Hoti also castigated the US for keeping mum over the Myanmar issue. He strongly deplored the US president recent statement, blaming Pakistan for harboring terrorism. But, he added that the US didn't take action terrorist organizations operating in India to destabilize the peace in the region. He said there was no protection of Muslims minority in India and their fundamental rights are being violated.
He went on to say that Pakistan army, law enforcement agencies, and people had rendered unforgettable sacrifices in the ongoing war against terrorism, and establishment of sustainable peace. He stressed the peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan is best interest of the entire region. He sought the political solution by holding dialogue to resolve the Afghan issue.
PPP leader has expressed concern over spreading of dengue in other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. He criticized that the PTI-led provincial government had failed to take preventive measures to cope with timely with situation. He said the KP government had denied for getting assistance from Punjab government, and stopped the Punjab health unit team to enter hospital in Peshawar.
He asked that PTI Chairman Imran Khan to instruct his party led provincial government to take prompt measure to overcome with dengue epidemic instead of control KP affairs by sitting in Nathiagali and Bani Gala Islamabad. When asked about any plan to hold protest against genocide in Myanmar, he replied the party would hold protest demonstrations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country.
About the visit of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in district Mardan, he said they will warmly welcome him in the district, and preparations have been started in this regards.
