The dengue virus is continued to wreck havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as 340 new cases were reported across the province on Friday. Daily report of Dengue Response Unit of the provincial Health Department, issued here, stated that test of total 1918 dengue suspected people was conducted, out of which 340 found dengue positive in the province.
On Friday, around 168 dengue affected patients were admitted in different hospitals of the province. While 108 have been discharged after successful treatment, the report said. The report further said a total of 472 dengue affected patients were admitted across the province. While more than 18 dengue affected people lost their lives till Friday evening.
The data has been compiled from total patients admitted at Khyber Teaching Hospital, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Lady Reading Hospital, Naseer Ullah Babar Teaching Hospital, Maulvi G Hospital, Police & Services Hospital, Cantt General Hospital, North West Hospital, Rehman Medical Hospital, Mercy International Hospital and Kuwait Teaching Hospital.
Moreover, the affected areas include Tehkal Pishtakhara, Tehkaf, Deh Bahadur and Warsak Road. The recent dengue outbreak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has become an alarming situation for the authorities and residents alike. The first case of dengue outbreak this year was reported from Peshawar in June 14, 2017, states the report, adding that the patient was diagnosed NS1 positive at Khyber Teaching Hospital.
Meanwhile, fumigation spray campaign against dengue virus was started in Skhakot here on Friday to protect people from this deadly ailment. Nazim village council, Skhakot Sajid Hussain Mishwani formally inaugurated the anti-dengue fumigation door to door campaign.
In this connection, a function was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Skhakot where speakers highlighted different causes, symptoms and treatment process of dengue epidemic. The Nazim asked people to cover water tanks, ensure better hygiene in their homes, remove all standing water and keep their tires in safe areas. He also appealed people to cooperate with field stops to make anti dengue campaign a success.
