The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Tuesday urged the Chief Justice LHC to take notice of the lawyers' complaints regarding delaying messages about their cases and the cause lists being generated by the new IT system. President LHCBA Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali while addressing a press conference along with Secretary Amir Saeed Rawn pointed out flaws and problems in the new IT system and said that the bar members were unable to trace out their cases fixed before the courts.
The bar leaders questioned why the new system was introduced in urgency and the old system was completed shut down. "We are not against the modernism and use of latest technology but it should be properly managed," said Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali. He claimed that the judges come to know about their cases when they sit in the courts to start proceedings.
The Bar President said these flaws in the IT system are causing serious problems for lawyers and litigants. He also said both the systems should go side by side until the new system is improved. Bar Secretary Amir Saeed Rawn said they received late messages about their cases and many times their cases were dismissed due to non prosecution.
Earlier, Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah during an informal meeting with the court reporters said that new IT system is now functional and he would continue doing efforts for the comfort of lawyers and litigants.
The CJ said the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Consulting Company confirmed that the new system was fully functional and had no technical problem. He said the old system had been replaced with this new system. "Every new system takes time and there is always need to understand parameters of new system," the Chief Justice added.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said in previous system, many pages were used for cause lists but now a special page has been made for the lawyers where they could know about their cases just by putting their CNIC and cell phone numbers.
