Six passengers were killed, including two children and a woman, and three injured as a speeding truck crushed a Suzuki van at Malir Link Road on Tuesday. Police and rescue sources said the incident occurred near Sumandri Baba Mazar early in the morning. Police said the clash resulted from rash driving on the cratered road. The truck driver managed to flee the scene, and raids were being conducted to arrest him.
The injured were moved to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. They reportedly hailed from interior Sindh. The crash led to the closure of the Malir Link Road linking the National Highway with the Super Highway, causing a long queue of vehicles.
