Opposition in the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday demanded resignation from Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif. The Opposition members said after the Lahore High Court's verdict on sugar mills, Shahbaz Sharif has lost his moral right of retaining the office of chief minister. The House echoed with slogans of "go Shehbaz go". In rebuttal, it was responded by the Opposition with by raising slogans of "give answer to questions of Ayesha Gulalai".
The treasury benches failed to meet the quorum which was pointed out by Murad Raas. No resolution of the opposition members was passed in the House. The Assembly session started under the chair of Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal. Provincial Ministers Jahangir Khanzada and Ch Sher Ali answered the questions related to youth affairs and department of minerals.
Opposition Leader Mian Mahmood-ur-Rashid welcomed the decision of Lahore High Court on Sharif family sugar mills. Provincial Minister Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that Opposition is seeing their defeat in the NA 120. Earlier during the question answer session, Minister for Sports Jahangir Khanzada said the government is considering to make available playgrounds of educational institutions to general public.
He said a committee will take the decision in this regard in next 10 days. Last year the government had spent sufficient amount on the promotion of sports, he added. The treasury benches failed to meet the quorum upon which the speaker adjourned the session till 10 am on Wednesday.
