The Punjab Government is spending over Rs 96 billion on completions of 27 mega projects of South Punjab during the current financial year. P&D spokesman told Business Recorder that the government is spending Rs 25 billion to provide clean drinking water in the twenty Districts of southern Punjab. Rs 15 billion have been allocated for the dualization of Lodhran Khanewal Road while Rs 12 billion rupees have been set aside for the Safe City Programme for Multan and Bahawalpur.
He said that inclusive growth and regional equity are important features of Annual Development Program 2017-18. Accordingly, a very high priority has been assigned to Southern Punjab. Revamping of all DHQ Hospitals / THQ Hospitals, Reconstruction of Dilapidated School Buildings, Reconstruction of Dilapidated School Buildings, Provision of Missing Facilities in Schools, Tribal Area Development Project, Canal Improvement Project, Purchase of Mobile Health Units, Establishment of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Bahawalpur, Establishment of University of Agriculture, Multan, Southern Punjab Poverty Alleviation Programme, Establishment of Medical College at Bahawalnagar.
