Top seed Noor Zaman and Hammad Ahmad will clash in the final of the ongoing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Defence Day Squash Championship being played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Tuesday. Noor Zaman handed an up settling 3-1 defeat to promising Khushal Riaz, who recently played Japan Open besides playing US Circuit and British Open Junior.
The score was 10-12, 11-9, 12-10 and 11-8. Noor Zaman played attack game and despite losing the first set, came back strongly by winning semi-final. Noor Zaman and Khushal Riaz provided good shorts which were largely enjoyed by capacity crowd present on this occasion including former World Champion.
In the second match Hammad Adil upset Ali Sher in another thrilling encounter decided in 3-2. Both Hammad Adil and Ali Sher were stretched to five sets, the score was 10-12, 11-9, 10-12, 13-11 and 11-9. Both Hammad and and Ali Sher played well and gave each other a tough fight. It was a thrilling match and both Hammad Adil and Ali Sher exhibited some good nick, drops and smashes.
In the Under-17 category Rashid Daulat, Ahmad Hussain, Zargham Khan an Faisal Fayyaz moved to the semi-finals. In the first quarter-finals match Rashid Daulat defeated Jawas Ahmad by 3-1, the score was was 11-9, 7-11, 11-8 and 11-9, Zargham Khan beat Abdullah Haseeb by 3-0, the score was 11-8, 11-9 and 11-9, Ahmad Hussain beat Ahmad Ullah by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-9 and Faisal Fayyaz beat Waqar Akbar by 3-1, the score was 10-12, 11-9, 11-7 and 11-9.
In the Under-13 category Sheraz Akbar beat Muhammad Shalan by 3-0, the score was 11-8, 11-9 and 11-6, Raheem Abbas beat Faizan Asad by 3-1, the score was 11-9, 10-12, 11-7 and 11-9, Muhammad Abbas beat Nawaz Shah by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-8 and Yaseen Akbar beat Majid Khan by 3-0, 11-7, 11-9 and 11-9.
In the Under-11 top seed Humam Ahmad of PAF defeated Mobin Khan by 3-1, the score was 11-9, 12-10, 7-11 and 11-8. Both Humam Ahmad and Mobin Khan played well and gave each other a fight. In the second semi-final Abdullah Nawaz beat Sakir Ullah by 3-1, the score was 12-10, 13-11, 7-11 and 11-8. The semi-final and final of the event will be played on Wednesday.
