Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that during the last two months, his department has collected Rs 9218.846 million in heads of various taxes as compared to Rs 8140. 552 million taxes recovery in the same period in the fiscal year 2016-17.
Presiding over a meeting, he said that the recovery of the taxes on time was quite essential for national exchequer because without proper recovery of the taxes, there was no concept of progress. He urged the officers to perform their duties honestly. He also warned them that if they were unable to comply with the orders, they might face consequences.
Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, while briefing the meeting, said that Rs 1182.045 million were recovered in the head of Motor Vehicle Tax, Rs 6567.277 million Infrastructure Cess, Rs 113.452 million Professional Tax and Rs 521.33 million were recovered in terms of Property Tax. He said that the remaining amount was recovered in terms of various taxes and speedy work was going on to achieve the target. Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Abdul Haleem Shaikh briefed the minister on performance of officers.
