The opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Wednesday stage walked out of the proceedings against the biased role of Deputy Speaker Mehr Taj Roghani and ministers for opposing the referring of a question to the standing committee of the House concerned. The house turned into a fish market when Shiraz Khan of PML-N in his question criticized the provincial government for illegal appointments at Industrial Estate Gadoon, district Swabi and demanded referring of the issue to the concern committee.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Law, Arif Yousaf advocate while defending the government said that answer have been given with details and rejected demands for sending the question to committee. Gohar Nawaz of Qaumi Watan Party also criticized the government for making illegal appointments and supported the referring of the question to house panel.
Provincial Minister for Information, Shah Farman assured inquiry into the matter and said in case the appointments were proved illegal then they would be sacked. But, the mover of the question was insisting for the sending of the issue to the committee and appealed the Deputy Speaker for voting on the issue. On this occasion, though the treasury benches agreed for voting, but, the Deputy Speaker advised Shah Farman against going for vote as the strength of opposition was more than the treasury benches, which prompted the opposition to stage walked out of the house.
The Deputy Speaker sent Minister for Food, Qalander Lodhi to pacify the angry opposition but they continued their boycott till the adjournment of the proceedings as Nighat Aurakzai of PPP came to the House and pointed out the lack of quorum, leaving the Deputy Speaker with no other option other than adjourning the proceedings for long period of two weeks.
