Instagram tests shuffling, re-arranging user profiles for easier experience
Users should be ready to experience a change in their Instagram profiles, as the social media site is playing around with new features and are shuffling the look of the profile pages.
Instagram announced via its blog post that the company is testing new user profile layouts, which might include shuffling of things. “Over the next several weeks, you may see features re-arranged at the top of your profile including changes to icons, buttons and the way you navigate between tabs, which we hope will make profiles easier and cleaner to use,” the blog post read.
Instagram to crack down fake likes, comments, follows on its platform
Instagram posted a picture that showed the re-arrangements it is aiming to make. The most noticeable of which is the user picture moving to the right side instead of left and the names and biography appearing on left side in a larger font and more prominent way.
Also, the follower and following counts are no longer on the profile top and are moved below the user bio in a much smaller font, and the number of posts published is no longer there. Below these are the options of ‘Follow’ and ‘Message’ next to each other. If it is a business account, along with Follow and Message, there is also a separate option for ‘Call’, ‘Email’, ‘Directions’, and ‘Start Order’, along with ‘Shop’ tab next to other tabs.
Instead of icons, Instagram has written the names of grid, posts, tagged along with IGTV tab. The ‘Mutual’, ‘Followers’, and ‘Following’, are also all combined into one place rather than having separate pages for each.
Instagram said that these changes are currently in work and will be tested in various phases and combinations over the next several weeks. “Your profile is where you share who you are on Instagram, so starting today we’re testing ways you can better express yourself and more easily connect with the people you care about on your profile.”
