The flag of a global terrorist network Daesh, also known as ISIS, was Sunday seen on the main Islamabad Expressway; it was inscribed with a slogan "Khilafat is coming". Photos of the Daesh's flag went viral on the social media, forcing Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal to take notice of the incident who also sought a report from the law enforcement agencies.
Police sources said that a citizen, who first spotted the flag on a pedestrian bridge on Islamabad Expressway near Iqbal Town, brought the incident into the notice of Khanna Police Station. They said that police rushed to the spot immediately and took the flag in their custody.
They said that the flag, identified as the standard flag of the Daesh terrorist organisation, was also inscribed with additional slogan "Khilafat is coming". They said that a report has been registered against unknown persons and search started to arrest those involved in the incident.
Pakistan has been denying an organised presence and structure of the Daesh in the country while the law enforcement agencies on several occasions have claimed to have killed militants affiliated with Daesh. On June 08, 2017, Pakistan military said in a statement that security forces destroyed headquarters of Daesh militants and also killed 12 hardcore terrorists including two suicide bombers in a massive offensive conducted against the terrorists that lasted for almost a week in Mastung area of Balochistan.
On February 24, 2017, Karachi police killed two militants affiliated with the Daesh in Manghopir area following a raid conducted in their compound. However, flags and the incidents of wall chalking in support of Daesh have also been reported in various others cities of the country.
