K-Electric on Wednesday disconnected power supply of administration block and staff colony of Karachi University due to nonpayment of outstanding dues. KE spokesman said receivables from Karachi University have risen to over Rs 86 million. Due to the staggering outstanding amount, the power utility has disconnected the power connection of admin block and staff colony of the university.
"Despite serving several notices, dues have not been cleared by the university. We urge the concerned authorities once again to clear the outstanding dues," he said. KE receivables from public sector educational institutions stand at an alarming figure of Rs 440 million and the power utility appeals to the respective departments for cooperation and support so that KE may continue to serve its valued customers.
On the other hand, Varsity's spokesman said all outstanding dues of KE would be paid as soon as possible and approximately 30 million will be paid by October 5 2017.
