President IAF Han Bekke along with Central Chairman PRMGEA Ijaz A. Khokhar on Wednesday afternoon inaugurated the office of International Apparel Federation (IAF) in newly constructed building of Pakistan Readymade Garments and Exporters Association (PRMGEA. Minister of State for Commerce and Textile Haji Akrram Ansari inaugurated newly constructed PRMGEA building.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dutch Ambassador to Pakistan Ardi Stoios Braken, Minister of State for Commerce and Textile Haji Akrram Ansari, President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Mujid Raza Bhutta and representatives' trade bodies as well as members of business community attended the ceremony.
Minister of State for Commerce and Textile Haji Akrram Ansari on this occasion said that government had focused its attention on the promotion of export and taking steps for resolving the problems being faced by the business community. President IAF Han Bekke also spoke on the occasion and assured that full cooperation and support will be extended to PRGMEA for the promotion of textile and apparel sector.
Dutch Ambassador to Pakistan Ardi Stoios-Braken addressing the ceremony said that International Apparel Federation (IAF) office in Sialkot will help the local garment manufacturers to ensure B2B contacts with international buyers.
Speaking on the occasion Central Chairman PRMGEA Ijaz A. Khokhar informed the house that Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association had its offices in Karachi, Lahore and Sialkot, representing garments industry and striving to promote largest value added stakeholder in Pakistan and contributing foreign exchange of US2.50 million annually to national exchequer.
Sialkot is one of top export hub of the country dotted with cottage industry producing garments, uniforms, surgical instruments, sports goods and musical instruments etc he told the house. Ijaz said that Sialkot is also sourcing for top international renowned brands and our artisan and craftsmanship is acclaimed throughout the world.
PRGMEA always seek national and international collaborations for the promotion of textile and apparel sectors which enable to contact International Apparel Federation (IFA) having its head Office Netherlands he said. Central Chairman PRGMEA further stated Sialkot IFA office will grant membership to our local garments manufacturers and also help in holding B2B meetings with the importers and exporters. PRGMEA and IAF collaboration will open new avenues for liaison with international buyers and bands he added.
