Country Director of South Asian Region of World Bank, Patchamuthu Illangovan called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here Friday and said that the World Bank will continue working with the Punjab government.
During the meeting, programmes of improvements in social sector in the Punjab launched with the cooperation of the World Bank were discussed in detail. The WB Country Director appreciated the computerization of land record and social sector reforms and said that the Punjab government has introduced tremendous reforms for betterment in social sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz said the World Bank is a solid partner of the Punjab government and the role of the World Bank for the development of the social sector is laudable. He said people have been given their right by computerizing the land record. He said that fraud, cheating and corruption have been eliminated due to the computerization of land record and people have been saved from the Patwar Culture. He said an abundant improvement has been made in education, healthcare and skills development sectors. He said the World Bank will also be welcomed in future for cooperation in betterment of the social sector.
Moreover, member of the Turkish Parliament Burhan Kayaturk in a meeting with Shahbaz Sharif discussed promotion of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkey in different sectors, especially enhancement of mutual collaboration in healthcare sector.
Burhan assured to continue cooperation in betterment of healthcare and other sectors and said: "It is our responsibility and obligation and necessary cooperation will be provided for improving the healthcare system of Punjab."
Talking on the occasion, Shahbaz said that several Turkish companies have invested in various sectors in Pakistan, especially in Punjab. He said that improvement in the healthcare system is his mission and cooperation of Turkey will be appreciated for this purpose. He said Pakistan and Turkey are moving together in the journey of progress and prosperity.
