The 9th Muharram procession on Saturday concluded peacefully, amid tight security arrangements. The main procession started from Nishtar Park, passing through Mehfil-e-Shah-e-Khurasaan, Saddar, Preedy Street, Baba-e-Urdu Road and M.A. Jinnah Road, culminating at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.
The participants offered Namaz-e-Zohrain at Imambargah Ali Raza at M.A.Jinnah Road.
Heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies were deployed to protect the main procession and rhw majlis venue. Surveillance included the use of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
Security personnel were deployed at the rooftops of buildings to monitor the proceedings of the mourning procession.
All traffic was prohibited from proceeding to the route of the procession from Guru Mandir. At the same time, alternative traffic arrangements were made by the Karachi traffic police for vehicles approaching the route.
