The Met Office alerted the farmers on Monday to sandstorm in Southern Punjab and upper Sindh, saying normal wind is likely to blow in the country's agriculture plains in the next 10 days. It also asked the farmers to chalk out irrigation plans for the standing crops keeping in view the expected hot and dry weather until October 10. It said that weeds from standing crops should be removed at earliest for a good agriculture output.
Dry weather is expected in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Kashmir while light rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan is expected over the period. In the next 24 hours, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country. "Continental air is prevailing over most part of the country," the Met said.
Over the past 24 hours weather continued hot and dry throughout the country with rain-thunderstorm fell at few places in Malakand and Hazara Divisions. Pattan received 5 mm of rainfall, Mirkhani 3, Lower Dir 2 while Turbat and Sibbi were the hottest places with 42 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhakkar 41 and Noorpurthal 40 over the past.
Heat weave is likely to continue in Karachi on October 3 and October 4 (Tuesday and Wednesday) with a maximum temperature ranging up to 36 degrees Celsius and 85 percent humidity.
