The federal government has refused to provide population census data to Sindh province. According to Statistics Chief, no such data could be provided to anyone without making amendments to the constitution. Addressing a press briefing here, Advisor on Statistics Asif Bajwa informed that the technical team of Sindh province had called for records of Form 2 and blocks of the population census which could not be provided to it for the reasons mentioned above. The technical team could only be given a briefing over the process, he added.
In this regard, Asif Bajwa added, that an amendment to constitution was being under consideration only after the approval of which by the parliament the data could be provided. The Statistics officials also in
formed that during a month the price of onion registered an increase of 98 percent; tomatoes 58 percent; mangoes by 23 percent; bitter melon 13 percent, and lime increased six percent. Similarly the retail prices of eggs registered an increase of four percent; Channa pulse price up by three percent while the price of gas cylinders jumped up four percent.
During the same period price of poultry increased 16 percent; apple 14 percent; banana nine percent; sugar seven percent; tea five percent; green chili four percent, garlic three percent, Masoor pulse two percent, and mash pulse by one percent.
