Messages from President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

I am pleased to learn that the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) is organizing the 5th Achievement Awards to recognize the individuals and organizations for their distinguished performance. This Award ceremony is an application of the valued members of the business community who make sustained efforts to promote commerce and industry in Pakistan. Such events honour high achievers promote trade, business and industry in the country and encourage private entrepreneurs to play a more vital role in national development.
It is an established fact that the private sector plays a key role in the growth and development of the national economy. Private sector involvement in policy making through consultative processes by concerned departments also helps in ensuring that policies are broad-based and are owned by the private entrepreneurs. Such ownership is needed to ensure consistency of policies.
I am pleased to note that the Government is cognizant of the issues faced by the private sector in a highly competitive global market place. While consolidating our position in traditional products and markets, we need to explore new markets and add to our export basket. The Government is endeavoring to provide favorable policy environment, negotiate market access agreements and maintain effective institutional support mechanism for promotion of exports.
I would like to commend FPCCI for its endeavors to promote activities related to trade, business and industry in the country. FPCCI is a leading forum for all trade bodies and entrepreneurs and it has a significant role to foster inclusive growth in the economy. I hope that it will continue these laudable activities. In this context, FPCCI may devise special schemes to encourage women entrepreneurs and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country.
I am confident that conferment of awards and public recognition of high achievers will motivate enthusiastic individuals and organization and encourage them to achieve even higher goals. Once again, I felicitate the President and office-bearers of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) for continuing the tradition and organizing the 5th FPCCI Achievement Awards. I congratulate all award winners and wish them continued success in the future.
