Sindh's minister of education and literacy, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, has directed secretary schools and colleges in the province to intervene in the matter regarding disconnection of electricity to some educational institutions and resolve such issues on priority basis.
He also said that the contractors concerned should complete work on missing facilities within 15 days, and in case of failure action would be taken against them. He said that under CIDA, Rs 1,261.773 million were being spent to improve teachers' training institutions to provide better quality training to the teachers and the programme will continue until June 2018.
The programme is in progress in the districts of Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Karachi, Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad and Kashmore. Talking to a Canadian delegation, led by Christopher Johnston, deputy director of the Pakistan Development Programme Asia-Pacific Branch, Jam Mehtab said that in selected colleges the teachers training programme will be launched on Saturdays and Sundays in order to train maximum number of teachers.
He also briefed the members of the delegation on steps taken by Education Department to enhance educational standard in the province. He said that two types of teachers training programmes are going on. One is for in-service teachers and the second for pre-service teachers. Presently training is being given to 1,027 HMs ,who were recruited through IBA Sukkur and 800 newly promoted teachers are being trained.
