The chairman of the Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association, Arif Lakhani, has demanded the withdrawal without delay of all recovery notices and activation of businessmen's blocked NTN. He expressed concern over the blocking of the NTN of 800 businessmen by the Regional Tax Office in Karachi and said that if the RTO fails to activate the NTN immediately, the business community will hold back taxes, which will cause losses in government revenue.
Arif Lakhani said that businessmen have already submitted pay orders under Section 81, for two years in some cases, but still the business community receives notices of recovery from the RTO, which is forcing them to pay again.
He said that the dispute is between the department of valuation and the RTO for transfer of funds, and instead of resolving issues by themselves they are harassing the business community. He said that due to the blocking of NTN business activity has suffered a lot.
