The American Consul General at Lahore, Elizabeth Trudeau, called on the chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Senator Sirajul Haq, at Mansoora on Wednesday. He said that the entire region was on the tip of the volcano because of Indian's brutalities on the Kashmiris. He said if the world desired peace, the Kashmir issue must be resolved in accordance with the Kashmiris' aspirations.
He also drew the attention of the US diplomat toward the miserable plight of the Rohingya Muslims in Burma and said it was astonishing that the US and the world bodies were not discharging their duties in this regard.
Continuing, the JI chief said that the people of Pakistan desired peace and revival of democratic system in Afghanistan whereas some regional powers wanted Afghanistan to become a centre of intrigues against this country. He said the Afghan people were paying the cost of these conspiracies for the last four decades. He said that a dialogue with all the Afghan factions could provide a basis for peace in the country.
Sirajul Haq said that the people of Pakistan had serious reservations over the US government's statements about this country. He said that positive measures by the US could remove these reservations.
