The Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) Punjab has urged the Punjab government to immediately clear refunds of billions of rupees of wheat exporters which were stuck with it for the last many months. The flour millers are facing liquidity crunch because of non-payment of refunds despite the clear orders by the Lahore High Court, said PFMA Punjab Chairman Liaquat Ali Khan and Group Leader Asim Raza Ahmad while talking to journalists on Tuesday.
They said the stoppage of refunds was unjustifiable. They also criticized the government for carrying 5 million tons of surplus wheat. They said the only way out to resolve the surplus issue is to export it. They were of the view that the government should clear refunds of exporters so they could look avenues for exporting this surplus. They also urged the government to give rebate of US 170 dollar per tons to the exporter to make them competitive in the international market.
