Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel Thursday took the charge of security of the Parliament House after Rangers did not turn up for security duty during the National Assembly session. The FC personnel were deployed at the Parliament House after the controversy erupted on the deployment of Rangers outside the accountability court on October 2 during the appearance of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in corruption references filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
However, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jameel Hashmi, who oversees security of the Parliament House, talking to Business Recorder, said that the city police requisition Rangers personnel whenever they are short of strength. He said, "In the current session of the National Assembly, we have deputed FC personnel and did not seek deployment of Rangers. We will call the paramilitary force when we feel it necessary." On October 2, the Rangers, according to the interior minister, suddenly took over the premises of the accountability court, banning the entry of interior minister, other politicians and media persons into the Federal Judicial Complex. Following the incident, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration claimed that it didn't requisition Rangers for deployment at the Federal Judicial Complex.
