The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Hyderabad has surpassed the revenue in respect of customs duty, sales tax and federal excise duty as well as overall target for the Q1. The MCC collected Rs 3.362 billion against the target of Rs 2.491 billion assigned by the FBR which is 35 percent higher. The MCC collected 58 percent more revenue as compared to the revenue collected during corresponding period of the previous FY i.e. Rs 2.122 billion.
It is further added that on special initiative of Akhlaq Ahmed Khattak, Collector, MCC Hyderabad, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad and Sukkur geared up anti-smuggling efforts and resultantly made 67 seizures of smuggled goods valuing Rs 115 million during the 1st quarter of current financial year as compared to 40 seizures valuing Rs 71 million made during corresponding period of the last financial year which shows 61 percent increase in number of seizure cases and 64 percent increase in terms of value.
Special efforts were made to contain smuggling of Iranian diesel. Resultantly 05 oil tankers along with 200,000 litres of smuggling Iranian diesel were seized and 03 persons were arrested during the 1st quarter of the current FY as against 2490 litres of Iranian diesel seized during corresponding period of the last FY.
In view of the seized/confiscated goods lying in the state warehouses at Hyderabad and Sukkur. Disposal of the same have been expedited and an amount of Rs 14 million have been realized through auction of confiscated goods.
