The National Assembly's Standing Committee on Science and Technology Monday discussed the "The National University of Technology (NUOT) Bill, 2017" and unanimously recommended to the house to pass the bill with amendments. The committee, which met here with Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema in the chair, also considered "The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (Amendment) Bill 2017" moved by Member of the National Assembly Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi and deferred it till next meeting for further discussion.
The committee also considered the report of the sub-committee constituted under the convenership of MNA Aftab Shahban Mirani, to finalize amendments in "The Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies Bill, 2016". It appreciated the efforts of the sub-committee for finalizing report on the subject bill in short span of time. The committee directed that the Secretary Ministry of Science and Technology may hold a meeting with all stakeholders to build a consensus on the amended draft of the bill to remove lacunae, if any, so that the committee could consider them accordingly.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Ch. Muhammad Ashraf, Shazia Mubassar, Musarat Rafique Mahesar, Aftab Shahban Mirani, Shamas-un-Nisa, Sajid Ahmad, Aliya Kamran and Engineer Usman Khan Tarakai.
