Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday decided to approach the Supreme Court over the delaying tactics of the government in merging Federally Administered tribal Areas (FATA) into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A statement issued by PTI central media cell said that PTI chairman Imran Khan has directed PTI leader Babar Awan, who is a renown lawyer, to prepare the petition and knock the door of the apex court as it is unnecessarily delaying the issue.
Earlier in Senate, Senator Azam Khan Musakhel of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) said that his party will not allow anybody to merge FATA into KP. He said that he tribal areas have a unique status and traditions which should not be altered. "Those who want to unite the Pashtuns, should make efforts for merging Attock and Mianwali into KPK," he added.
He said despite being deprived of basic facilities of life, the people of Pakhtun belt remained steadfast in their love for their country and offered countless sacrifices, adding the rights and privileges of Pashtuns should be respected.
The PMAP senator had to face stiff resistance from a FATA Senator Aurangzeb Khan when he said a man from Balochistan had no right to dictate the tribal people what they should do about merger of FATA with KP as he is not the stakeholder. "I had to be displaced in my own country whenever there was an operation against the militants. And it was me who rendered sacrifices for this country and lost my near and dear ones. Even then someone is giving me advice what I should do. This must stop as FATA people want merger into KPK," he maintained.
