The Higher Education Commission's Equivalence and Accreditation Committee decided on Friday to recognize the degree of 'Shahadatul Alia fil Uloomal Arabia Wal Islamia' as equivalent to bachelor degree. As recommended by the committee, the degree will be recognized equivalent to bachelors upon qualifying compulsory subjects of English and Pakistan Studies at bachelor level from Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) or any other charted university, as well as award of equivalence certificate for 'Sanvia Aama' and 'Sanvia Khasa' from Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC).
The committee has also decided that the concerned Wafaq may admit the students to 'Sanvia Aama' as per their own system of education and the HEC will not require middle school certificate from the holders of 'Deeni Asnaad' (religious certificates).
It has also decided that students who are desirous to obtain admission in formal master degrees, other than Islamic Studies or Arabic in a university after 'Shadadatul Alia', may opt other two elective subjects at bachelors in addition to compulsory subjects.
