Jinnah University for Women on Tuesday kicked off breast cancer awareness campaign with a vision to sensitize students and teachers regarding this deadly disease. A five-day awareness campaign titled 'Pink Ribbon Youth Awareness Drive, PINKtober17' is being organized by students of the Media Studies Department of the University.
Addressing the inaugural day of campaign, General Surgeon Dr. Farzana Memon (FCPS) elaborated the causes, symptoms, preventions and treatments of breast cancer. She also shared her professional experiences with the audience. Dr. Wajeeha Zainab, a psychologist, informed the students that hopelessness is the major failure in this disease while will power could cure breast cancer. She urged the families of victims and survivors to give them firm support. Surayya Qamar, Dean of Arts, said that if anyone feels the symptoms of breast cancer, must consult the doctor. She said that an early diagnosis will help in early recovery.
The Media Studies Department's teachers also shared their views about the awareness campaign. They said that unawareness is a major issue. They emphasised that the women who are unable to bear expenses of treatment must contact with such organization who are working for it. They exhorted them to end hesitation and pay heed on health and life.
