Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders here on Thursday termed the indictment of the Sharif family as a first step towards justice and demanded that the looted money laundered abroad should be brought back to Pakistan. In the accountability court, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, her daughter Maryam Nawaz and his son-in-law Captain Muhammad Safdar (retd) were indicted in the Avenfield properties, based in London.
Reacting on the news, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed welcomed the indictment and said this is the end of N-League and goods days are ahead for the nation. "The journey to justice is almost completed. The national institutions will prevail in the country and the Sharif family cannot escape punishment. By taking different stance against the national institutions, the Sharif brothers are trying to make the nation fool."
PTI senior leader Ejaz Chaudhary said the accountability court has indictment the godfather and her daughter. "It is noted that the ousted prime minister is using delay tactics to avoid justice and both the father and daughter are talking about conspiracy being hatched against them," he added.
He said the whole nation is only making one demand, bring back the looted money to the country. He also said that the Sharif family is constantly taking a cover of lies to hide their crimes. Nawaz Sharif was given ample time to prove his innocence, but he failed to submit one evidence in his favour.
"In contrast, he lied to the Supreme Court and the National Assembly," he added. He accused the Sharif family of submitting false documents in the Supreme Court to hide their crimes, but they will not escape the punishment. "The ruling party is perplexed by the corruption against them and thus they are maligning the superior courts and the army," he said.
He also condemned the government for extending VVIP protocol to Maryam Nawaz who is an accused in corruption cases. He was delighted that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, corruption of Nawaz Sharif was being probed. "He will be exposed by the end of the trail," he added. Meanwhile, PTI Punjab Information Secretary Syed Samsam Ali said that indictment of the Sharif is a first step towards justice.
He accused Nawaz Sharif's government of burdening the country with huge external debts. He said the government's ill-conceived economic policies have ruined the national economy. "For their self-pleasure, the government took huge loans and hence burdening the country with large debts," he added. He observed that inflation, unemployment and lawlessness are alarmingly high. "Due to growing unemployment, crime rate has increased in the country," he added.
