Al-Haj Faw team entered into the semi-finals of the FATA Football Super League-2017 after recording a solitary goal victory against Kurrama Shaheen of Kurram Agency in the quarter-final match being played here at Qayyum Sports Complex on Saturday. Director General (DG) KP Sports Board Junaid Khan was the chief guest on this occasion and the players of the two quarter-finalists teams Al-Haj Faw of Khyber Agency and Kurrama Shaheen of Parachinar, Kurram Agency were introduced to him.
Shinwari FC of Landikotal Tehsil Khyber Agency and Dara Adam Khail were introduced to him. Organizing Secretary Shahid Khan Shinwari, Secretary FATA Volleyball Association Khurshid Iqbal, Secretary KP Football Association Basit Kamal and large number of spectators were also present.
Speaking on this occasion, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Junaid Khan appreciated Shahid Khan Shinwari who brought up private and foreign companies sponsors to have healthy sports activities for the youth of FATA. It is also history in making that foreign players visited Peshawar and were part of the League-2017 in time the country needed such initiative very badly to highlight the true image of Pakistan to the rest of the world.
He said players from Malaysia, Indonesia and Afghanistan playing in Peshawar means peace has been restored to our areas and now efforts afoot to restore international events of other games as well.
"It would certainly a good initiative by giving due opportunities to the youth of FATA to learn at one hand from top players and to get international exposure at their door steps," Junaid Khan added.
Earlier, the match was started on fast note and till the end of the first-half play the ball was most confined to mid-field. For Al-Haj Faw Amir, the right winger, Irfan, center striker Waheed, left winger Sana Ullah and mid-fielder Jehangir played very attacking game but failed to score a single goal.
