The National Assembly Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (Safron) passed 'The Rulers of Acceding States (Abolition of Privy Purses and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill, 2017' unanimously after re-consideration. A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on SAFRON took place under the chairmanship of MNA Muhammad Jamalud Din.
On the schedule of new expenditures (SNEs), the committee was informed that SNEs proposals for creation of 2292 posts of different departments/directorates had been prioritized and recommended in the meeting held on October 16, 2017 in SAFRON Division in the first phase in the current financial year.
The committee was further informed that a meeting has been convened on Wednesday (today) in Safron Division to finalize the prioritized SNEs proposal for creation of 2292 posts of different departments of the Fata. The committee recommended that the Ministry of SAFRON, Finance Division and the Fata Secretariat should finalize the SNEs proposals for creation of 2292 posts on priority basis as the SNEs proposals pending since long.
The committee was briefed about the issue of hiring of non-locals in the Fata that all the concerned authorities (development partners and implementing partners) have already been issued instructions through various correspondences from time to time to hire a number of employees belonging to the Fata.
The committee observed that the NGOs working in the FATA are still hiring non-locals, instead of the recommendations of the committee in this regard. The committee sought the surety to recruit 100% employment of locals of Fata on non-technical posts as the unemployment is on peak in the tribal areas due to the militancy.
