The Election Commission of Pakistan is ready to hold by-election in NA-4, Peshawar-IV, and the polling will be held on Thursday (tomorrow). In light of the upcoming by-election, the constituency's roads and intersections are full of posters, panaflex banners and campaign material for display. There are 12 candidates vying for the NA-4 seat; nine are independent and others belonging to different political parties. The seat got vacant after former MNA of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Gulzar Ahmed passed away in August this year.
The ECP for the first time in the country will be using electronic voting machines (EVMs) during the by-election. As many as 269 polling stations would be established for the by-poll. The EVMs would be used in over 100 polling booths of 35 polling stations in both urban and rural areas of the constituency.
