The city police Wednesday sealed majority of the routes leading to heavily guarded Red Zone of federal capital to protect Diplomatic Enclave and other sensitive installations during protest of "Karwan-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwat rally" likely to reach Islamabad in the early hours of Thursday. Karwan-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwat rally organized by Sunni Tehreek started from Lahore to protest against the changes made in the Khatam-e-Nabuwat declaration on electoral candidates.
The rally is being led by various religious scholars including Dar Asif Ashraf Jilani, Allama Muhammad Shahdab Qadri, Peer Syed Naveed-ul-Hasan and Allam Ameen Ullah passing from various cities has reached Rawalpindi. The rally started from Lahore and will come to the red zone. The district administration of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have chalked out a plan to avert any untoward incident and blocked the entry of rally in capital especially in red zone.
The high-ups of administration approached the organizers of rally and informed them about imposition of section 144 in the capital and that they will not be allowed the entry into the Red Zone. The administration asked them to hold the protest at the Parade Ground near Faizabad, but the organizers refused and insisted to stage the protest in the Red Zone.
Islamabad Police have sealed the Red Zone with shipping containers and barbed wire. Heavy contingent of police, Rangers and Frontier Constabulary have been deployed in the Red Zone as well as in various other parts of the city. The police have also placed a dozen of containers at the entrance of the Red Zone and different other roads.
Over 3,000 personal from Punjab and AJK police have been called in the capital in view of assisting city police in maintaining the law and order over here. The district administration have put on high alert all hospitals and decided that eight fire-fighters, eight ambulances and eight water tankers will move along with the rally.
