Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Annual Development Program (ADP) of the provincial government is reflective of development and prosperity of the people as public welfare has been given special importance in development schemes. "Implementation of the development program worth Rs 635 billion will further expedite the development process in the province," he said this while addressing a meeting through video link, here Thursday.
The meeting reviewed progress on the Annual Development Program and various initiatives of public importance. Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz said that composite development of the less- developed areas is included in our priorities. That is why, record funds have been allocated for the prosperity of the Southern Punjab, he added. He said that main objective of development schemes is to bring qualitative improvement in the lives of the people. In this regard, special focus is given to the development of the social sector.
Under the 'Pakian Sarkan-Sukhay Painday-Program,' a network of carpeted roads has been spread in the rural areas. This mega program has revolutionized the rural economy with the construction and rehabilitation of different roads situated in rural areas. Due to it, the rural lifestyle has also been transformed, he added.
He said that resources are a sacred trust of the people and therefore, every penny is being utilized on the projects of public interest with utmost honesty. Shahbaz directed that timely utilization of resources be ensured under the ADP and ongoing as well as new schemes be completed within the given schedule. Similarly, continued monitoring of the projects along with their timely completion be ensured as well.
Chairman P&D gave a briefing about the implementation of the ADP. Provincial Ministers Malik Nadeem Kamran, Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif MNA, Chief Secretary, secretaries of line departments and high officials attended the meeting through the video link.
