"The shameful and insulting treatment had spread waves of severe anger and concern among the retired employees and had decided to start protest against the treatment met out by the management of the central bank to its employees," a retired employee of the bank said.
He said that employees despite meager resources had worked hard for the prestige of the organization without caring for hot and cold season. But, management committed big mistake with them and after considering as beggars thrown some coins in their bowl.
The retired employee further said that price hike is touching seventh sky, while the government since last June is consistently targeting the people with mini-budgets and demands of the employees have been rejected in the name of saving. He said that serving and retired employees have been hoodwinked through lollypop. However, he said that such treatment is not acceptable to them in any circumstances.
He said that retired employees of the central bank from Khyber to Karachi are protesting this injustice committed by the federal government with them and demanded that all concerned organizations should join hands for guaranteeing due rights to the retired employees of SBP.
In this connection, Mohammad Riaz, Chief Organizer of Retired Employees of SBP has termed only 5% increase in the pension of retired employees and widows of the retired employees a sheer injustice and out-rightly rejected it.
Mohammad Riaz demanded increase of the pension of retired employees by at least 15%. Otherwise, they will approach media for highlighting the issue. He said if the government does not increase their pension. Then it should return their principal amount of 50% pension as they have lost confidence in the bank.
