Sherwood qualified for the main final of the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital-sponsored Polo in Pink 2017 tournament while Total Nutrition made way for the subsidiary final after registering contrastive victories in their respective matches played here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Thursday.
One and half goal handicap advantage was main difference between Sherwood and MMS as both the teams were 7-all when the final whistle was blown but handicap advantage declared Sherwood the ultimate winners and helped them qualify for the main final.
From Sherwood, Adnan Jalil Azam was star of the day as he slammed five goals while Bahawal Mohsin Maan and Frasat Ali Chatha contributed one goal apiece. From MMS, Haris Haroon Malik hammered a hat-trick while Mian Khurram Munir and Faisal Khan scored a brace each.
In another match of the day which was played among three teams, Total Nutrition, Barry's and Sakuf, under American system, Total Nutrition beat both the opponents and qualified for the subsidiary final. First Total Nutrition defeated Barry's 3-21/2, and then they closely beat Sakuf by 21/2-2. Earlier, Barry's outpaced Sakuf by 51/2-4.
Lahore Polo Club secretary Colonel Shoaib Aftab (retd) said that due to Pakistan-Sri Lanka third Twenty20 final to be played on Sunday, the final of the event has been shifted to Saturday.
"The final is expected to be a very thrilling and challenging one which will amuse the spectators to larger extent and the purpose of holding this final in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital is to create awareness among the masses regarding breast cancer," he said.
