The Karachi Port handled 121,889 tonnes of cargo comprising 100,872 tonnes of import cargo and 21,017 tonnes of export cargo including 2,127 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 100,872 tonnes comprised of 8,836 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,188 tonnes of general cargo; 65,702 tonnes of bulk cargo: 57,345 tonnes of coal; 8,357 tonnes of fertilizer and 11,146 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 21,017 tonnes comprised of 14,517 tonnes of containerised cargo and 6,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,127 containers comprising of 676 containers import and 1,451 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 160 of 20's and 238 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 20 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 386 of 20's and 167 of 40's loaded containers while 111 of 20's and 310 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Polo, Maliakos, Clemens Schulte, DL Aster and Ocean Colossus carrying containers, oil tanker and urea respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Hansa Offenburg, Kota Lambai, MT Quetta, Wawasan Topaz, Umm Ad Dalkh and Damas carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Wawasan Topaz, Damas, Xin Min-18 and Papayiannis carrying oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely MOL Endowment and Nord Chest carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
There were seven vessels Sabya, Luebeck, Nagoya Tower, Libra, Chemroad Nova, Star Ploeg and BBC Congo carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday, while three vessels viz. Prosper, MT Shalamar and Sea Hawk carrying containers and oil tankers respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total export cargo of 14,592 tonnes includes 14,592 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,798 containers comprising of 1,030 containers import and 768 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were two ships namely MV Zao Galaxy and MT Pavino Spirit carrying chemical and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely CV Suez Canal and MV Star Ploeg carrying containers and soyabean respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Suez Canal, MV Wade-Al-Bustan, MV Star Ploeg, MV Ocean Prefect, MV Kenta, MV Zao Galaxy, MT White Purl, MT Pavino Spirit and MT Lady Amna currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV CCNI Arauco, CV Hugo Schulte, MV Xiang-22, MV Gong Yin-1, MT Gas Husky, MT Brizo, MT Margarita, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al-Dasma, MT Bahra, MT Chemroad Nova, MT Princimar Equinoz and MT Genuine Galaxy carrying containers, soyabean, coal, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV CCNI Arauco, CV Prosper, CV Hugo Schulte, MT Margarita, MT Princimar Equinoz and MT Genuine Galaxy carrying containers, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were nine ships namely CV MSC Sussana, CV MSC Sindy, CV Prosper, CV Express Black Sea, CV MSC Haidi, MV Nord Crest, MV Da King, MT Tembek and MT SCF Pioneer carrying containers, coal, project cargo, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are two ships namely CV Navos Verano and CV GH Zephyr carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
