The Regional Board Meeting (RBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has authorized several inquiries and approved filing of two references in Accountability Court. The meeting RBM held here with Brigadier Farooq Naser Awan (R), Director General NAB (KP), in the chair here. The meeting was attended by Directors, Additional Directors, Case Officers, Senior Legal Consultants and other officers concerned. The following decisions were taken during the meeting.
The board recommended conversion of inquiry into investigation against Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shangla and others regarding corruption and corrupt practices, embezzlement of funds to the tone of Rs 123.8 million. The subjects are alleged to have been involved in embezzlement of funds for the rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged by flood in year 2016. During the course of inquiry, it was discovered that the Deputy Commissioner Shangla misused his authority and criminally and illegally enabled the execution agencies to select contractor without advertisement and disbursed funds without any formalities.
The flow of funds also suggests that TMO's and Tehsil Nazim were at the same time executors, monitors, contractors and disbursers of the funds allocated for the rehabilitation of infrastructure, causing huge loss to national exchequer. Beside, this the Board also approved filling of 2 references. First reference was approved against Amin-ud-Din, Director Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) Peshawar regarding accumulation of Assets beyond known sources of income worth Rs 64.690 million.
The details of the assets are market shops and godown in Peshawar, 5 marla plot, Ajab Khan Town Peshawar, 1 kanal plot in Hayatabad Peshawar, luxury bungalow 1 Kanal Hayatabad Peshawar, two 5 marla houses in Hayatabad Peshawar, 1 kanal plot Regi Model Town Peshawar, 5 marla house Ring Road Peshawar, commercial unit Markaz Islamabad, a house at G T Road, unjustified investment in M/s Muhammad Tariq Trading Company & Fabrics Business at Dubai (UAE), Investment in Paradise Silk Centre, Sumbal Arcade Peshawar Saddar and Investment in M/s. IP Traders at Nowshera.
Second reference was approved against Officers/ Officials of Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO), Customs Department and others regarding misappropriation / misuse of authority committed in the consignments of petroleum tankers for export to Afghanistan via Torkham border. Fake exports of 55 consignments of POL products as sold out in the local market causing loss of Rs 23.040 million to the national exchequer.
At the end, Director General NAB (KP) Brigadier Farooq Naser Awan (R) appealed the general public to joint hand with NAB (KP) for eradication of corruption from the Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
