State Minister for Human Rights Barrister Usman Ibrahim has stressed the need for ensuring protection of the child rights by involving relevant stakeholders at all levels for creation of peaceful environment at home, work place and in the society at large.
He stated this in a meeting with the representatives of Child Rights Movement (CRM) who called on him here on Tuesday to discuss matters related to child rights across the society. The delegates highlighted the aim of the movement which focuses on supporting hand to the government institutions to protect and promote child and human rights. Delegation comprises 25 members of NGOs from district Chiniot, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad. The CRM extended its gratitude to Ministry of Human Rights for getting the National Commission on the Rights of Child Bill, 2017 passed from the Parliament.
They appreciated the government for its efforts regarding legislations, implementations and future plans for the betterment of mankind. They discussed the issue of child labour, especially is Faisalabad division. They came with the suggestion of ensuring education to out of school children and strongly recommended that human rights concepts, norms and values should be the part of curriculum. In this regard, Director General (HR) Muhammad Arshad briefed the delegation.
Barrister Usman Ibrahim explained that the Ministry of Human Rights has been participating actively at grassroots level. He elaborated the positive activities of the ministry regarding human rights situation in the country including implementation on policies, laws and programs to promote and protect human rights. In this regard, the ministry has taken initiatives for harmonization of legislation, regulations and practices in line with the international human rights covenants and national obligations.
